Directors
Chris Russell, Chairman

Chris was appointed to the board as a Non-Executive Director on 1 December 2016 and took over as Chairman in December 2020.

He is a Non-Executive Director of investment and financial companies. These include Hanseatic Asset Management Ltd, a family office in Guernsey, and JP Morgan Global Core Real Estate Assets Ltd, a vehicle which invests in unlisted global JP Morgan real estate and infrastructure funds. Prior to a non-executive career, he was a director of Gartmore Investment Management plc, where he was Head of Gartmore’s businesses in the US and Japan. Before that he was a holding board director of the Jardine Fleming Group in Asia, resident in Japan, then Hong Kong. Prior to joining Flemings in London, he was with Phillips & Drew Asset Management. He is a Fellow of the UK Society of Investment Professionals and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

In 2006, Chris was commissioned by John Wiley to publish ‘Trustee Investment Strategy for Endowments and Foundations’.

Nick Pink

Nick was appointed to the board as a Non-Executive Director on 1 September 2020. 

He is also a Non-Executive Director at JP Morgan Emerging Europe, Middle East and Africa Securities PLC and Baillie Gifford China Growth Trust plc. This follows a senior management career at UBS Investment Bank, ultimately as Global Head of Research and prior to that as Head of European Equities and Head of Asia Equities Research. He has experience across global equities, corporate finance, strategy and risk. Nick chaired numerous UBS committees including the Global Research board and served on the boards of UBS Ltd (£1.7bn revenues) and the UBS Global Equities board (£3bn revenues). Nick has an MA in History from Cambridge University, where he was President of the Union.

Shelagh Mason

Shelagh was appointed to the board as a Non-Executive Director on 1 June 2020.

She is a solicitor specialising in English commercial property as a consultant with Collas Crill LLP. She is a past Chairman of the Guernsey Branch of the Institute of Directors and a member of both the Chamber of Commerce and the Guernsey International Legal Association. Shelagh also holds the IOD Company Direction Certificate and Diploma with distinction.

Susie Farnon

Susie is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and joined the Board in September 2022. Susie was a Banking and Finance Partner with KPMG Channel Islands from 1990 until 2001 and Head of Audit with KPMG Channel Islands from 1999. She has served as President of the Guernsey Society of Chartered and Certified Accountants and as a member of the States of Guernsey Audit Commission and Vice-Chairman of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission. Susie was appointed as a non-executive director of the Association of Investment Companies, the UK Investment Companies’ trade body, in April 2018.

Solomon Soquar

Solomon Soquar, a resident of United Kingdom, has a portfolio of roles including: Non-Executive Director of Blackrock Sustainable American Income Trust PLC, Africa Research Excellence Fund, and Business Fellow of Oxford University, Smith School of Economics and Enterprise. Solomon has a long and deep experience of over 30 years across Investment Banking, Capital Markets and Wealth Management. He has worked with a number of major financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs, Bankers Trust, Merrill Lynch, Citi and Barclays. His most recent executive role has been as CEO of Barclays Investments Solutions Limited.  Solomon holds BA/MA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and M.Phil in Economics from Balliol College, Oxford.

Colleen McHugh

Colleen was appointed to the board as a Non-Executive Director on 1 June 2024.

Colleen has over 25 years of international experience in investment management and banking, serving a wide range of clients, including major banks like HSBC, Barclays, and Butterfield Bank. She is currently acting Chief Investment Officer of Wealthify (part of the Aviva PLC group) a UK regulated digital investment manager. Prior to this she was managing director of 1818 Venture Capital, a licensed asset manager based in Guernsey. She is currently a non-executive director of London listed, Real Estate Credit Investments Limited.

Colleen brings extensive experience in multi-asset class management and is well placed to bring her insights to the board of RICL. She holds an economics degree from the University of Ireland (Galway) and an MBA from the University of London. Colleen is a Chartered Wealth Manager, a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment, and has a certificate in ESG investing from the CFA Institute.
